What is Demolition?
Demolition is controlled deconstruction, not chaos. It’s the careful sequencing of works, the management of hazards, and the segregation and removal of materials so a site can be reused safely and efficiently. When done properly, demolition reduces cost, shortens programmes and protects neighbouring assets and people. When done badly, it causes delays, cost overruns and reputational damage. So why entrust a critical phase of your project to anyone less than specialists?
Comprehensive services — tailored to every project
From internal soft‑strips to full structural takedowns, Quantum Group delivers a full suite of demolition services, including:
-
Soft strip and internal strip‑outs for refurbishments
-
Partial and full structural demolition for commercial, industrial and residential sites
-
Selective dismantling and deconstruction for salvage and retention projects
-
Foundation and slab breaking for groundworks and piling preparation
-
Site clearance, vegetation removal and remediation support
-
Segregation, recycling and licensed waste disposal to minimise landfill and maximise recoveryEvery scope is supported by a bespoke method statement, programme and risk assessment — so you always know what will happen, when and how.

Who runs your job — and why leadership matters
Who’s in charge of safety, sequencing and resource planning on site?
Leadership makes the difference between a well‑executed demolition and a programme that stalls. Our teams are made up of skilled demolition operatives, experienced supervisors and proactive site managers who live and breathe site logistics. Leading our demolition operations is Paul, our Demolition Manager — a hands‑on industry professional with over 20 years’ experience delivering complex urban and civils demolitions. Paul’s oversight ensures every job benefits from seasoned judgement, tight planning and practical problem solving.

Health and safety
Is safety a slogan on the wall or a practice on site? At Quantum Group it’s the latter. We embed health & safety at every level: pre‑start briefings, daily tool‑box talks, detailed RAMS, LOLER checks where applicable and ongoing plant inspections. Operatives are trained and accredited, supervisors enforce controls and managers monitor compliance. We co‑ordinate exclusion zones, pedestrian segregation and emergency plans to protect workforce, public and neighbouring properties. That diligence reduces risk, avoids costly incidents and keeps your project on track.
Safety is not an afterthought — it’s the first tool we bring to site. In demolition, every cut, lift and sweep creates hazards: airborne dust, flying fragments, loud noise and hidden services. That’s why Quantum Group treats personal protective equipment (PPE) as mission‑critical, combined with controls, planning and competent teams to keep people and sites safe.
Essential PPE for demolition — what you’ll see on site

What does a demolition operative actually wear?
Our operatives turn up in full PPE every time: certified safety helmets, high‑visibility clothing, steel‑toe safety boots, and the task‑specific protection described below. PPE is the last line of defence — but it’s also non‑negotiable. We ensure correct fit, certification and suitability for the task before any work starts.
Respiratory protection — dust masks and respirators
Demolition generates dust—lots of it. Ceiling tile removal, plasterboard strip‑outs and insulation work release fine particulates and fibres that must be controlled. We use graded respiratory protection: FFP2 for general dust control and FFP3 or powered respirators where risk assessments identify higher exposure (for example, fibrous insulation, heavy cutting or poor ventilation). Masks are fitted and face‑fit checked, changed regularly, and used alongside extraction, water suppression and local vacuum systems to reduce airborne hazards at source.

Eye protection — safety glasses and goggles
How do you protect your eyes when metal, screws or debris fly? We use close‑fitting safety glasses for general work and sealed goggles for high‑risk tasks such as cutting metal, grinding or working with loose insulation and dust. Where grinding or high‑speed cutting is required, face‑shields are worn in addition to glasses or goggles for full‑face protection. Eye protection is selected to meet EN standards and to suit the operator’s task and comfort.

Hearing protection — ear defenders and plugs
Demolition is loud. Breakers, crushers, plant and cutting tools regularly exceed safe noise thresholds. We use ear defenders with appropriate attenuation (or dual protection with ear plugs where needed) and enforce their use whenever noise levels require it. Operators are briefed on when to wear protection and how to store it to maintain performance.

Hand protection — gloves for every challenge
Handling M&E, sharp metal, and abrasive materials demands the right glove. We provide task‑specific gloves: cut‑resistant gloves for metalwork, chemically resistant gloves where contact with hazardous substances is possible, and insulated or electrically rated gloves when work involves live or potentially live services. Gloves are inspected for wear and replaced promptly to prevent failures that lead to injury.
