Hot Works Demolition
Controlled Cutting, Zero Compromise on Safety
Ready to cut, grind or torch through metal but not risk the whole site? Hot works are essential to many demolition and deconstruction projects — and when sparks fly, control, competence and paperwork do the heavy lifting.
What is hot works demolition?
What happens when your demolition task needs more than a breaker? Hot works covers any operation that produces heat, sparks or naked flame during demolition: angle grinders cutting steel, Stihl and other cut‑off saws slicing through cast iron or metal, oxy‑fuel or plasma cutting, welding, brazing and flame‑heating. These activities are vital for controlled removal of structural steel, ductwork, pipework and fixings — but they create a fire risk that must be managed, monitored and permitted.
Typical hot works tasks we carry out:
Cutting out steel beams, columns and fixings with grinders and cut‑off saws.Removing cast iron and heavy pipework using abrasive wheels or oxy/plasma cutting.Welding or tack‑welding for dismantle and temporary support works.Localised flame or heat applications for splice or profile removal. If it sparks, it’s hot work — and it gets treated with a robust plan.
Permits, planning and shared responsibility
who signs what?
Who takes responsibility for hot work on site? Hot works are delivered under a formal Hot Works Permit to Work. Quantum Group completes the risk assessment and hot works permit controls for the task, but the permit is always coordinated with and signed off by the main contractor or site management. That shared sign‑off establishes clear responsibility for exclusions, firefighting readiness, permit duration and post‑work monitoring — so everyone knows who does what, when and for how long.
