Dismantling & Deconstruction

What is dismantling & deconstruction?

Isn’t demolition just knocking things down? Not when precision, retention and reuse matter. Dismantling and deconstruction is the careful, methodical removal of selected parts of a building — walls, slabs, roofs, stair cores, steel frames and service runs — carried out to protect remaining fabric, preserve salvageable materials and enable complex remodels or sensitive site interfaces. It’s surgical, not sledgehammer work: the right cut in the right sequence, every time.

Temporary works & sequencing — engineering the safe removal

How do you remove load‑bearing fabric without collapse? By changing the load path safely. Our temporary works packages — propping, shoring, RSJs, acrowing and engineered supports — are designed to the specific load case and signed off by competent designers. Sequencing is critical: we remove in panels, install temporary supports, and verify load transfer before proceeding. Staged dismantling keeps the remainder of the building stable and protects adjacent structures.

When do you choose dismantling over wholesale demolition?

Do you need to remove an internal wall but keep the rest of the structure standing? Are there valuable finishes or reusable materials to salvage? Dismantling is the answer when you must control structural movement, protect neighbouring assets, maintain parts of a building in use, or extract materials for reuse or recycling. It’s the preferred approach on occupied sites, heritage projects, phased redevelopments and tight‑access urban jobs where brute force would cost more in delay and damage.
