Cormar Carpets — Making Space for a Smarter Workspace
Quantum Group delivered a precision soft strip and targeted deconstruction package to prepare Cormar Carpets’ offices for a full refurbishment. Our scope cleared finishes, services and an internal chimney breast to create a safe, blank canvas — all executed with careful planning, tidy logistics and an eye for reuse and minimal disruption.
Soft Strip & Internal Clearance — stripping back to the essentials.
Where do you start when you need a clean, workable shell? We began with a thorough soft strip to expose the building fabric and services for the refurb team. Work included removal of carpet coverings in two offices and the connecting hallway, and the full rip‑out of ceiling tiles and grid systems throughout the affected area. Doors and doorframes were removed and either set aside for refurbishment or responsibly disposed of, while plasterboard partition walls separating the two office rooms were taken out to create flexible, open plan space. All exposed electrical cabling and non‑essential water pipes identified within the scope were safely isolated and removed back to defined points to allow follow‑on M&E works.
Bathroom strip‑out — fixtures, tiles and partitions removed with care.
We treated sanitary areas as high‑control zones. The plasterboard partition separating the men’s and women’s toilets was dismantled to create the new layout, and all bathroom fixtures — sinks, toilets and urinals — were decommissioned, removed and staged for disposal or client instruction. Ceramic wall tiles were carefully detached where required, avoiding unnecessary damage to surrounding structure and ensuring a neat surface for new finishes. Temporary protections and clear segregation ensured contaminated waste streams were handled correctly and the rest of the office could remain operational where appropriate.
Dismantling & Deconstruction — removing the chimney breast safely.
How do you take out a brick chimney breast without destabilising the room? Our dismantling team carried out the controlled removal of an internal brick chimney breast, working to a bespoke temporary works plan. Brick-by-brick deconstruction, propping where structural advice required it, and careful lowering of material kept vibration and dust to a minimum. Structural interfaces were protected and key takeaways documented to enable quick handover to the next trades for lintel provision or infill works. The result: a clear, structurally-safe footprint ready for the refurbishment contractor to proceed.
