Expert Underground Drainage That Keeps Projects Flowing
What happens if the drainage is wrong? From finished floor levels to long‑term maintenance bills, poor drainage causes the problems everyone notices later. At Quantum Group we specialise in civil engineering with a strong focus on underground drainage — turning design into durable, compliant systems that protect buildings, control water and keep programmes moving.

What is civil engineering — and what does it mean on your site?
Isn’t civil engineering just digging holes? Far from it. Civil engineering on construction sites is the applied science of forming the substructure that everything else sits on: engineered earthworks, formation levels, attenuation, service trenches and the drainage networks that carry foul, storm and surface water away. Good civil engineering blends survey data, design intent and practical plant operations to deliver a system that performs today and tomorrow.

Why drainage matters — more than pipes in the ground
Why invest in expert drainage? Because the right drainage design and installation:

-
Protects building fabric and internal environments from water damage.
-
Ensures compliance with Building Regulations, local authority requirements and sewerage undertaker standards.
-
Prevents future maintenance headaches by getting falls, bedding and chamber positions correct first time.
-
Controls surface water using attenuation, SUDS elements and soakaways to manage run‑off and reduce flood risk.
-
Keeps your programme on track by preempting issues that cause rework and delays.
Drainage isn’t a hidden extra — it’s the invisible system that keeps everything else working.
Our drainage services — end‑to‑end delivery, engineered for certainty
Quantum Group provides a complete underground drainage service, including:
Design liaison & feasibility: coordinate with your engineer or provide buildability input on invert levels, cover positions and chamber access to inform installable designs.
Trench excavation & formation: machine‑assisted and hand‑worked trenches formed to exact line and fall with appropriate bedding and surround materials.
Pipe installation: supply and lay PVC, uPVC, clay and other specified pipework to the correct gradients with solvent/elastic jointing or seal systems as required.
Inspection chambers & manholes: construct precast or brick/block chambers, benching and rodding points with watertight covers and steps where specified.
Connections to mains & stacks: coordinated tie‑ins to existing stacks, internal soil systems and mains with statutory undertaker liaison and permit handling.
Surface water management: installation of ACO channels, gullies, attenuation tanks, crate systems, soakaways and permeable sub‑bases to manage run‑off sustainably.
Dewatering & groundwater control: temporary dewatering, wellpoint systems or pumps to keep excavations safe and dry.
Testing & commissioning: pressure testing, water tightness tests, and CCTV surveys to confirm performance before backfill.
Reinstatement & backfill: correct compaction and surfacing reinstatement, from hardcore and Type 1 sub‑bases to paving and Tarmac finishes. As‑built records & handover: full survey, invert and chamber records, test certificates and maintenance guidance for facilities managers.
